Mixxers, quite honestly some of you are starting to piss me off. I know Mixx is not MY site, but I like to hang out there and try to help keep the BS to a minimum.  I am still faced with the issue of “Photo” section abuse. Guys, cut the crap and keep the photo section clean. It is not a section for you to abuse.

If you have a story you want to submit, put it in the story section and insert a thumbnail, NOT THE PHOTO SECTION! It is getting stupid and out of hand and I will report them all day. And yes Mixxers, I put THIS post in the “Photo” section to make a point!

Have fun and Happy Mixxing! Just a reminder on how this works: I post the mystery photo on Monday and reveal the answer on Friday … or on Saturday if I have a hard time picking only five pictures; sometimes it's difficult to choose. To keep the mystery photo from getting lost in the other entries, I move it from Monday to Tuesday to Wednesday, etc., adding a photo every day.

I have to approve all comments, so if your guess is posted immediately, that means you're wrong. (And if a wrong guess has already been submitted by someone else, there's no point in submitting it again).

If you're right, you will have to wait until Friday or Saturday. There's no need to submit your guess five times. Once is enough. The only reward is bragging rights.

Last week’s mystery guest was Dorothea Kent. The weekend mystery guest was May Boley.

There’s a new photo on the jump!

If you stuck it out for two hours of ABC’s Bachelor Pad, chances are you hung around for at least 30 seconds of the season premiere of Dating in the Dark. You remember this show, right? New cast each episode; three guys and three girls feel around in the darkness and occasionally converse to see if they like each other’s “personalities”? No? That’s probably for the best. This show is a total crapfest that I’m thinking can best be recapped via pictures. Ironic, don’t you think? Because they’re in the dark.

Natasha wins this week’s prestigious Best Euphemism for ‘Unemployed’ award.

Joey, 31, is the villain of the episode. He’s just sitting there and you already hate him, especially his most prized possession: his hair. Joey thinks his hair looks awesome.

Kym, 27, should consider washing her hair. Warning, guys: Kym only likes men with perfect teeth! And yet these are her teeth.

By the way, the interior decoration of this house is insane. Here’s host Rossi Morreale explaining this “most unusual dating experiment.” Marvel at the strange orange pineapple/container behind him. A true hidden gem!

Hideous wall art for a hideous “man.”

Seriously what is going on with the decor? You know we can see this, right, ABC? Not every scene occurs in the dark. Show some respect.

Finally! They’re dating in the dark. The introductions are as awkward as they seem.

Ewwwwwwwwwwww. Joey: “I did the Ray Charles wrist check so I could see if they were thin or they were heavy. I felt Natasha’s wrist and felt it was plump, and I was just kind of turned off, for me.”

The anti-plump crusade continues as Joey checks Natasha’s waist for extra, or rather any body fat during the first few seconds of their one-on-one date.

And she’s delighted! “I don’t think Joey’s a bad guy,” says Natasha the fatty. “I think it shows that he’s a bit more clueless than rude, and I just think that’s endearing.”

Joey demonstrates the dimensions of Natasha’s grotesque “inner tube” of flesh for the other two guys. Tragically for viewers, he is not about to drown.

To add insult to injury, Natasha’s best friend, Tatiana, reveals in a video diary that Natasha is a vegetarian for ethical reasons! “No wayyyyy. No, no, no.” Joey is devastated. A “fat” vegetarian, huh? I mean what are the chances?

Natasha’s one-on-one date with Dave, the 26-year-old PR guy, went a bit better. Here she is overdoing it after Dave unleashed his secret weapon — his sense of humor — by making a hilarious joke. Natasha said she used to be “on keys” in her school band, and Dave shot back, “Which means ‘keyboard,’ right? YOU DIDN’T JUST JINGLE KEYS?”

No, silly! I didn’t just jingle keys! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha I’m about to fall over!

Meanwhile, tall Kym makes the best zombie of the group. “Oh God,” she mutters in disgust upon realizing Joey is five inches shorter than her.

Natasha overacts AGAIN upon hearing Rossi’s big news that they would now get to view the results of the compatibility tests. “Perfect!” she squeals. But it’s not.

Kym delivers the most sensible line of the night: “Look how stupid our names look together.”

Storm is zombie Kym’s knight in shiny gold hoop earring armor at the start of their compatibility date. Uh oh. Are man-jewels a deal breaker, ladies?

…you deceptive, nice-personality-having jackass.

Yeah, Joey! Gotta booze it up for your compatibility date with a giant flotation device, bro.

Joey and Natasha’s compatibility date is just more of the same. This time he feels her entire midsection to make sure his snap judgment that she was huge had been correct. “Natasha, will you please stand up so I can get an idea of your full figure?”

And she’s okay with it! “I’ll be honest, I thought you were a little thicker than that,” Joey admits. But he’s still not sure and embarks on a thorough belly check. “You’re feeling my tummy?” she asks, bewildered. “Abso-LUTE-ly!” he announces, proud as can be. I’m amazed she’s still in the room.

After Joey describes his painful experience with an ex-girlfriend who “blew up like a tick” and assured Natasha that it was okay if she’d ever been heavy before as long as bulimia or the gym will keep her fit for the long run, it slowly begins to dawn on Natasha that Joey is a huge asshole.

There it is.

One of Natasha’s eyes takes a bit longer to catch up.

Jerk.

Yay! Kym decided to look past Storm’s earring (or in this case, screw her eyes shut) and meet him on the balcony of romantic success. They’re dating in the daylight!

But DRAMA! Natasha and Jessica both chose Dave, and he ended up requesting a daylight dating experience with Jessica. The two looked so much alike that I’m convinced there’s a 50 percent chance Dave meant to choose the other one. Here’s Jessica sticking it to that loser Natasha.

F— me gently with a chainsaw, Veronica!

I almost prefer this Natasha reaction shot from earlier, right after Jessica emerged from her compatibility date with Dave to announce “I’m really interested in him.”

And then Jessica fell. (Not really.)

The end.

I guess that God did make “Adam & Steve” after all. I heard a priest on the local San Diego News this morning claiming that approving gay marriage was going to somehow promote bigamy??? I somehow missed that on the gay agenda. I really need to try to attend the meetings more often. Another lady explained that she had nothing against gay people getting married but she hoped that they would be discreet in public. She was concerned that by witnessing same sex couples kissing, hugging or holding hands that her grand-daughter would somehow be denied a write to choice??? Huh? If nothing else it would show her that there is no shame in homosexuality. So hug your friends and hold hands in public! And be sure to kiss on the lips in front of as many people as possible.

On Young Me/Now Me, artist Ze Frank is asking for your help in recreating photos from your youth. He's attempting to collect them to be released in a book down the road and we love the idea. It's a fun way to get your family active and doing something, plus it's an easy project for them to look at what was and come up with how to recreate it for a modern day photo.

Simulating the arid, rocky terrain explorers might encounter on future space missions to planets and moons, from July 26 to August 8, 2010, the NASA Ames Intelligent Robotics Group (IRG) is conducting robotic field test at the Haughton Crater on Devon Island in the Canadian Arctic. Scientists are putting robotics to the test, partnering with NASA to assess concepts for future remote planetary exploration as part of the Haughton-Mars Project, or HMP-2010.

“Explorers, such as geologists, often find themselves with a set of observations they would have liked to make, or samples they would have liked to take, if only they had been able to stay longer at a site,” said Terry Fong, director of the Intelligent Robotics Group at NASA's Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, Calif. “Our work this year is to study how remotely operated robots, perhaps even vehicles previously used for crew transport, can be used to perform follow-up work.”

Site surveys can involve tedious and repetitive tasks, and by using teleoperated robots for follow-up activities, NASA is hoping to pull more useful information from their missions.

The potential challenges of remote research are great. From communication and transportation logistics to weather and instrument efficiency, space work is a desolate environment, and the Canadian arctic puts NASA engineers to the test.

Alysha Castonguay Topless Photos Ignite Controversy

Old photos bring back such wonderful memories of days past and recent ones delight each and every member of the family, especially when family members don't see each other on a daily basis. But it is so difficult to find time to get these precious treasures into an album or even stored properly. Why shove them away in an album that may not even be taken out during this rushed season or why store them in a drawer, when you can turn them into beautiful reminders of those you love during the holiday season and bring a sense of cheer to all who visit your home?

A mantle or bookshelf, and even a piano or table can become a showplace for your photos, if you dress them up with holiday sparkle. The first step is to find just the right frame. Make your determination of color and type of frame by considering the rest of you holiday theme. Is your living area adorned with gold or silver as the holidays demand or have you chosen a “Country Christmas” theme with highlights of deep greens and reds? Maybe your colors are new this year with an explosion of pinks and purples or perhaps even limes! Frames for your photos can enhance a rooms décor and bring noticeable exclamations of delight from your family when they find themselves among the decorations. For my mantle, during the rest of the year, I choose black or silver frames for the photos of my precious loved ones. During the holidays, I leave the silver and some of the black frames but chose to introduce gold and burgundy, and occasionally a clear crystal frame to give variety and pizzazz.

Certain lighting can give photos and other objects accentuation during this season. Adding candlelight with the perfect candle-holder give your pictures glow and warmth. Choosing just the right candle and holder is important for the right look. A “Country Christmas” theme could involve old portraits of days-gone-by with the classic choice of large red candles on stained-wooden candlesticks, surrounded by pine boughs and raffia bows. A more elegant theme would be displayed by those same photos with gold and white candles on metallic candlesticks on a fringed draping topped with swags of cedar and gold and white ribbon, displayed on your grand piano. A display of your children or grandchildren's photos in reds or lime-green pokadotted frames flanked by matching candles in white or green-painted holders and surrounded by tinsel draped across small branches of holly would perk up any table.

Put photos everywhere! Everywhere people go in your house during the holidays is a perfect location for photos. A small grouping of photos showing Christmases past is a great way to get conversations going in the family room or any breakfast area. A side- porch is a fun place for a photo display tucked in-between the swing and a rocking chair on a small tray table. Leave room to sit that piping hot cup of cocoa or mug of cinder! Even a bathroom with a small shelf is an ideal spot to place some funny pictures of you getting hit by a giant snowball or grandpa showing the little ones how to make a snowman.

Your guests and family will enjoy the conversation that ensues during this season, started by your great photos and memories will be recalled with even more memories made…oh, and don't forget your camera!

Miley Cyrus may be 17 years old — older than Britney Spears was when she released “…Baby One More Time” — but we still can't help but think of her as an 11-year-old on the Disney Channel in a goofy blonde wig. It's no wonder that her new sexed-up image for “Can't Be Tamed” is stirring up a little bit of controversy.

In 2008, Cyrus was criticized for baring her back on the cover of Vanity
Fair. Now, she's wearing cleavage-baring corsets and grinding with
dancers in videos, pretending to make out with girls on stage, and she
was even busted dirty-dancing with her “The Last Song” director Adam
Shankman. Her back should have been the least of anyone's worries.

On May 14, Cyrus wrapped filming on the final season of “Hannah Montana.” The season will air starting on July 11.

Perhaps Miley should've waited until after her Disney reign was over before busting out songs with lyrics like “I go through guys like money flying out their hands.”

Miley tells
the AP that she doesn't intend to push the envelope too far. “I'm not
trying to be slutty,” she says. “I'm not trying to be like, go to the
club and get a bunch of guys.” Miley is still dating her “The Last Song”
co-star, 20-year-old Liam Hemsworth.

“What I'm trying to do is to make a point with my record and look
consistent, in the way my record sounds and the way I dress,” Miley
says. “When you're 11, the word you would use to describe someone is
definitely
not sexy, and as you get older I think you grow into that. And I think
I've done that but that's not my schtick.”

Her new image may have
caused a few people to forget that she is still under age. Gossip
blogger Perez Hilton recently tweeted a photograph shot up
Miley's dress, taken while she was climbing out of a car. Hilton insists
that she was wearing underwear.

It's definitely arguable that
MIley has been forgoing wearing pants in videos and performances, so a
photo of her underwear-clad crotch didn't show us any more than we've
seen before. The key difference is the intent. Taking a photo up a
woman's dress is a violation — especially if the woman is a girl
of 17 years. It was clearly intended to incite scandal and embarrass
her.

The photographer and Perez Hilton were both crossing a
line, despite a recently released video in which a playful Perez says
“The reason I linked to that photo is because I thought she was exiting
that car in a very unladylike fashion, and you know I like to encourage
Miley to be ladylike.”

Don't expect Miley to put on pants any
time soon. “I'm really comfortable with my body,” she says. “I feel more

comfortable dressing with a little less, which is just how I've always
been. Now I'm able to do that a little more freely and, also, I've
just grown up to be this way too.”

It's great that you're
comfortable with your body, Miley… just give the world a little time
to catch up, please!

I have taken some Pics in the last days – please tell me what you think:

I caught a bushel of oranges. by The Rocketeer

{Website über Stammzellen-Wissenschaft

When I was in high school I found my moms old Nikon camera. I always wanted to get into photography but didn't know anything about it. So I got a job at a photo lab and took that camera with me everywhere. I'd bring the film into work the next day to see what I had learned and how the photos turned out. When prom time came around a bunch of my friends wanted me to do their prom pictures. So I borrowed a nicer camera from a friend and charged my friends to shoot their prom pictures. I made enough money to buy my first camera. After that it was a start of a dream

Since then I have done paintball photography for a world wide magazine, been a sports photographer, wedding photographer, school photographer, child photographer, and every kind of photographer in between. These are a list of sites I used when I first started out that I found to be invaluable.

www.photographytips.com

Great site that is some what member based. You can look around most of the site for free but if you want to access everything there is to see you can sign up online for only $5.00 a month. There are great articles on subjects from composition, to light, to how to use your flash. There are also some great galleries so that you can learn by example. Every page is filled with helpful information and numerous pictures that help explain the topic of the article.

www.photosecrets.com

This site may not be graphicly pleasing but it covers its bases. The tips are divided up into beginner, intermediate, and advanced. The beginner section covers topics like what kind of camera and film you should buy as well as how to take better pictures of people. he intermediate section talks about quipment, hot to tackle more complicated subjects, and travel photography. The advanced section is more about selling photos, more details about film, and the use of filters. The only thing I Don't like is there are no photos on any of the pages. I think a photography site should have pictures!

www.kodak.com

As one would expect this site covers everything that is photography. This site is easily to scroll through and has a wide variety of topics. Learn the best way to photograph your baby, take better vacation pictures, or photograph your pet. The site also covers topics like printing pictures, sharing pictures, and getting started in digital. The photographs on the site are great and offer some step by step examples of topics discussed in the articles. There are also interactive demos on different subjects that are worth checking out. You can even research information on

film and digital cameras.

www.photonhead.com

This site offers a great tool for the photographer who wants a better understanding of shutter speeds and f-stops. This is the hardest concept to grasp when starting out=t in photography. I know, Ive been there. No matter how many times its explained you just Don't quite get it. This site offers a tool where you can set shutter speeds ad and f-stops in any combination and see what the effect would be. You have a sample photo to your left and to your right you can see what it would look like with your f-stop and shutter speed combo. This is a great tool that helps you learn about f-stops, shutter speed, focal length, and depth of field.

www.betterphoto.com

This site offers online photography course for the photographer who wants to become a professional. The online classes are rated for skill level of the photographer. Classes usually include weekly assignments and have the course instructor personally look over your work. Course range from the business of photography to how to use photoshop and many other topics. Classes vary in price. A 8week class could be between $200-$400. If your aren't happy with your course by the third assignment there is a money back guarantee.

www.scphoto.com

This is one of the best sites I can recommend for young photographers who need direction. This site was created by a high school photography teacher. Its is a free lesson plan that offers homework for photographer. The best thing it offers is assignments on different areas of photography. There are assignments for learning magazine photography, lighting, concepts, and much much more. There are list of words and terminology you should new. Its basically a free high school photography class. I went through the whole lesson plan when I was teaching my self photography and highly recommend it.

Not sure where I was going to start this Saturday. I thought this video would be a good start. This is Mustafa Abdul Hamid, the ultimate UCLA student athletes who embodies the teachings and principles preached by our Coach, leading an 8 clap in honor of him last night in front of the Medical Plaza.

Many thanks to MWBruin, who was kind enough to shoot that video. Here is another video of that 8 clap led by MAH.

Powerful stuff. After the jump I wanted to put together some pictures and link to posts that have already gone up on BN. I think it would be great if we can share all of our pictures and video from last night's gathering, and also pictures and videos you might have with Coach, that you would like to share with us in this one thread.

MWBruin emailed this picture from last night's emotional 8 Clap gathering:

Here is another one:

You have probably already seen the videos we posted from the event last night. If you have your own pictures and video you want to share with rest of us, please use this thread. WestwoodWizard posted his own video and some amazing pictures that will give everyone chills:

And this with the following sentiments from WestwoodWizard: “My future Bruin. She’ll learn about Coach from me, and my dad, who taught me”:

Jeremy D also posted a powerful fanpost with pictures, video and the following sentiment:

It was nice to see a bunch of Bruins there to support and honor Coach Wooden. I got to catch up with some friends, and saw a bunch of people I recognized from various campus groups, so it was nice to bring us all together. It was also wonderful to realize that so many of us care so strongly, even though as children of the late 80s/early 90s, we never got to witness Wooden's greatness in person. To take this time out of studying (it's the start of Finals, after all), and walk down to participate in such a simple event, truly is a testament to the lasting impact Coach Wooden had on the Bruin family. He will be missed.

I think this kind of sharing helps all of us. I believe it will make you feel better. It will enable rest of us to feel your prayers and warm wishes for Coach, Nell and their family. It will bring all of us even closer together in this Blue and Gold bleeding nation:

So if you have photos, videos from last night's rally or photos and videos that captures your personal experience with Coach, please consider sharing with us in this BN thread.

GO BRUINS.

This image sent in by an alert reader captures the oil spill in a nutshell: high emotions provoking outraged action, the BP logo besmirched, and all of us wishing that someone could just phone “Restore America” to make it all right again. But with “Top Kill” dead and “Junk Shot” trashed, this disaster just entered endurance phase. Thanks to Matthew for finding a chuckle in the midst of all the pain.

GROWING FOR THE FIFA WORLDCUP 2010 by picaddict

Englische Nationalmannschaft Fussball-Trikot

At this time, Day Two of the Championship Event of the World Series of Poker's first venture outside of the United States (London, England to be precise) is taking place. For the first time in the nearly four decades long history of the WSOP, bracelets are being awarded outside the confines of Las Vegas casinos. This, however, has led many to ask several questions…is the World Series of Poker Europe a “true” part of World Series lore? Should they be awarding bracelets? And finally, will the inaugural WSOP-E be well received?

First off, the three events that make up the WSOP-E have been a success if you strictly look at the numbers. For the first event, a 2500 British pounds H.O.R.S.E. tournament, 105 runners stepped to the line and it was what could be easily called one of the toughest fields you could expect to see. Among those 105 players, a total of 98 World Series bracelets were represented and Jennifer Harman nearly became the first winner of a WSOP-E bracelet, finishing second to Germany's Thomas Bihl. The second event focused on one of the most popular forms of poker in Europe, Pot Limit Omaha, and for a 5000 pound expenditure (roughly $10000 U. S.), a surprising 165 players came to the felt and handed out a bracelet to Dario Alioto (who also final tabled during the 2007 WSOP in PLO 8/b). Finally, the 10000 BP (almost $20000 American) Championship Event has pulled in 362 players from around the world. From simple numbers, you can see the unqualified success that the World Series-Europe has been.

While it has been successful there, some problems have become apparent. In England (as well as the rest of Europe), there are not the humongous casinos and card rooms that are prevalent here in the United States. The Championship Event, for example, was split among three different casinos in the London area. This caused problems for many players as, having set up in hotels closest to the main hosting casino (the Empire), some found out they had to play in one of the other two venues away from that spot. This was something that Harrah's could have potentially avoided by visiting the venues, but it is a nitpicky point. Overall, it appears the events have been running smoothly and players are generally happy.

Should they be awarding bracelets at the World Series of Poker Europe? This was a question I debated for some time before deciding that they should. I have a feeling that the “powers that be” at Harrah's, whom you figure have been considering this since they acquired the rights to the World Series, are envisioning something along these lines in other areas. If we have the World Series of Poker-Europe, how soon will we have a particular stop in Asia, South America, Africa or Australia? Although for the World Series of Poker Circuit events in the U. S. award a very nice championship ring, these different continental events should award the bracelet for recognition of a champion. Winning one of these tournaments, after all, is the equivalent of being a continental champion and should be recognized accordingly with the WSOP bracelet.

The question of whether they should be recognized along with career bracelets won in Las Vegas is a more thorny question. If Jennifer Harman had taken the WSOP-E mixed games event, would she be recognized as a three time bracelet winner? If Phil Hellmuth takes the Championship Event (at this time, he is in the Top Ten), will his total go to twelve bracelets won? These are questions of semantics, but I believe they should count, with the appropriate designations. A player who takes one of the WSOP-E events has to defeat some of the finest players in the game today and, as such, should be afforded the rewards of the accomplishment.

Is having World Series of Poker events outside the U. S. viable? Why not? With the success of the first visit to Europe and my view that we could soon see other continents contest for such a crown, it is simply demonstrating that poker is something most of us already knew…that poker is a worldwide game, that there is no difference between a straight on the felt in Las Vegas than one in London or somewhere else. What better way to demonstrate this than having continental championships, much like what go on in international basketball or soccer (sorry, international world…that should be “football” for you!). If you are the “World Series” of whatever, shouldn't you have championships around the world to allow everyone to compete for the prize? Yes, the World Series of Poker-Europe is viable and, very soon, we will see the same contests ranging around the world.

For all the hand wringing over the WSOP-E, it was much ado about nothing. It has come off with few problems and has been well received, drawing the best from America as well as Europe and other segments of the world. It should be recognized as a viable tournament and the bracelets won are taken with the same skills you would use in poker anywhere in the world. With hope, we will see the WSOP-E flourish alongside the true “World Championship” of the Las Vegas World Series of Poker and add more continental stops in upcoming years.
